Zhenhai is located on the coast of the East China Sea and in the south wing of the Yangtze River Delta region, bordering the Hangzhou Bay to the north, the Beilun Port to the south, the Zhoushan Islands to the east, and is a close neighboring city of Shanghai separated only by a strip of water. It is the northern center of the main urban area of Ningbo, with a land area of 246 square kilometers and a permanent population of 516,000. Since ancient times, Zhenhai has always been the main port for foreign exchanges and the starting port of the ancient Maritime Silk Road. With the completion and opening of the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the Zhoushan Sea-Crossing Bridge, the Ningbo Express Beltway and the Ningbo Rail Transit, Zhenhai has become a transportation node in the south wing of the Yangtze River Delta region, connecting Shanghai to the north and Zhoushan to the east, thus further integrating into the regional integration of the Yangtze River Delta region.
