On June 18, Lin Bin, Secretary of the CPC Zhenhai District Committee, visited commercial blocks, historic buildings, and cultural creative enterprises to investigate cultural heritage development. He emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement cultural policies, uphold tradition while innovating, continue the city’s cultural legacy, deeply explore regional cultural connotations, and adaptively revitalize historical and cultural resources to create distinctive urban cultural brands. District leaders Wang Shibin and Liu Bo participated in the event.
How can historical relics and old industrial buildings be revitalized? The Zhenhai Ferry Commercial Block, transformed from an old pier built in 1985, has now become a riverside dining and night market hub. Lin Bin inspected the area and inquired about its business operations and commercial layout. He noted that the Zhenhai Ferry holds significant collective memories for locals and should be adaptively revitalized. Efforts should explore linking cultural relics like the "lighthouse—ferry—Song Dynasty ship" to fully showcase Zhenhai’s historical charm and cultural identity.
The old Zhejiang Energy Zhenhai Power Plant in the Hongqiao Village, Jiaochuan Subdistrict, ceased all generator operations in March this year, fulfilling its historical mission. As a key part of the Yongjiang Innovation Zone’s Youth Innovation Hub, the plant is slated for organic renewal. After hearing development proposals, Lin Bin stressed that the site is an important industrial heritage, embodying the spirit of the "Four Major Projects". He called for in-depth exploration and development of its resources, accelerating the functional transformation of old buildings to make the industrial heritage "vibrant" and "trendy", turning it into a new public space and urban landmark.
Zhenhai is dotted with immovable cultural relics. During the inspection, Lin Bin visited the former residence of Wu Jie, which is currently undergoing reinforcement and maintenance, with renovations set for completion and public opening in early 2026. After reviewing the conservation progress, Lin Bin emphasized that cultural relics and historic buildings carry the city’s historical legacy. He urged rigorous efforts in preservation, inheritance, and promotion, strengthening the protection of cultural heritage while leveraging it in line with regional planning to highlight the city’s cultural uniqueness and charm.
The essence of cultural creative products lies in culture. During his visit to the Zhejiang Morning Crafts Co., Ltd., Lin Bin toured the exhibition hall and production lines, learning about the company’s development and business model. Upon learning that its stress-relief, slow-rebound trendy products hold material patents and collaborate with popular IPs like Pop Mart and Sanrio, he praised the company’s market sensitivity and promising prospects. He also encouraged the company to explore local cultural elements and develop Zhenhai-themed IPs to enrich regional cultural significance.
During the inspection, Lin Bin emphasized the need to protect, inherit, and utilize excellent traditional culture, refining iconic symbols that reflect Zhenhai’s cultural identity to build a distinctive and profound cultural brand, thereby enhancing the city’s influence, reach, and appeal. He called for infusing traditional culture with contemporary relevance through diversified presentations, commercial development, and youth-oriented adaptations, innovating cultural creative scenarios to better meet the public’s diverse and personalized demands.
