With the Dragon Boat Festival approaching, seasonal foods like zongzi have entered peak consumption. On May 20, the Zhenhai District Market Regulatory Administration organized a special inspection campaign targeting zongzi and its raw materials to comprehensively identify food safety risks, ensure food safety during the holiday, and guarantee that the public can enjoy "safe zongzi."

The inspection focused on supermarkets, farm food markets, small-scale zongzi production workshops, and catering establishments, conducting a full-chain examination of zongzi and its raw materials such as glutinous rice, bamboo leaves, and candied dates, etc. During the process, law enforcement officers also educated operators on relevant laws and regulations, urging them to fulfill their primary responsibilities and strictly control raw material procurement and processing procedures.

"This inspection prioritized verifying whether operators implemented sourcing checks, obtained proper documentation, labeled zongzi packaging with production dates, shelf life, and manufacturer information, and avoided selling unverified food products. Overall, the findings were satisfactory," said a relevant official from the Zhenhai District Market Regulatory Administration. During the holiday, food safety patrols and emergency duty will be reinforced, with the “12315” complaint channel remaining open to safeguard public dietary safety and foster a secure and harmonious holiday consumption environment.

The Zhenhai District Market Regulatory Administration also reminded the public to check the integrity of zongzi packaging when purchasing, ensure freshness for unpackaged products, choose reputable platforms for online orders, and retain transaction receipts for potential consumer rights protection.
