On April 18, the Zhenhai District Chronicles’ Compilation Record compiled by the Zhenhai District Chronicles Compilation Committee was officially printed for distribution.
The book is composed of five parts, namely document compilation and storage, speeches, expert review, working exchanges and summary of chronicle revision. The beginning of the volume is characterized by color photos, memorabilia, the beginning and end of chronicle revision and archive directory, with nearly 350,000 words. It truthfully records the whole process of compiling the Zhenhai District Chronicles, which plays a role of history preservation and reference.
The Zhenhai District Chronicles is the key achievement of the second round of revision. Its compilation began in 2003, was finalized in 2016 and published in 2019. Five district heads successively served as the Director of the Compilation Committee. More than 100 units and 133 people participated in writing the first draft. Descendants of the Zhang's Family in Qinghu, the Zhou's Family in Baliqiao, the Shen's Family in Jiangnan, the Che's Family, Zheng's Family and Fang's Family in Zhenhai sent genealogies one after another. Fellow townsman associations of Zhenhai nationality in Beijing and Shanghai, as well as local sages such as Zhu Changyan and a remote descendant of Ye Chengzhong and so on in Hong Kong, actively provided help for the successful compilation of the Chronicles.
The publication of the Zhenhai District Chronicles' Compilation Record is not only a historical record of Zhenhai chronicle compilers’ down-to-earth and conscientious dedication, but also helps all fronts quickly find directions when participating in the three rounds of chronicle revision, so as to ensure that the 20-year-round of chronicle revision forms a favorable cycle.
